Objective:

The cards should be introduced after the Spindle Box material which will familiarise the child with the concept of zero (0). The sandpaper numbers are then used to teach the child to learn the symbols for the corresponding numbers. The material prepares the preschool child for learning how to write numbers.

The aim is to trace the number correctly with a finger tip and name the numbers out loud.
